Las Vegas Valley Water District (LVVWD) is one of the largest and fastest-growing water utilities in the country, responsible for nearly 4000 miles of pipe within a 500 square mile district. Population growth in the region is dramatic and currently in excess of 1 million. There are 275,000 water customers, including many notable high profile customers such as major hotels and resorts.

The FacilityView AM/FM/GIS system was built for LVVWD to allow users to view information about valve, hydrant and pipeline facilities, as well as the District's pump stations, wells and reservoirs. This system benefits from LVVWD's excellent and copious underground facilities data, the result of many years of investment in a sophisticated GIS department.

FacilityView provides much more than just viewing of GIS data:

• Extensive reporting provides a link from the GIS data to many critical enterprise databases such as the Customer Information System, engineering projects databases, record drawings in a document management system, work orders, and water conservation records.
• The system is used extensively in the field, including as part of a Mobile Work Orders system, also provided by Gatekeeper Systems.
• Field users performing underground locate operations (averaging several hundred locates per day) also access the system via wireless connections.
• Hundreds of critical District vehicles are tracked in the NaviGate Automatic Vehicle Location System.
• A graphical Dispatch System enables efficient allocation and management of field resources.
• An Advanced Viewing Module lets users build sophisticated filters of the data they display, including filters based on data in non-GIS data sources.

LVVWD has calculated that savings derived from the NaviGate field modules allow the system to pay for itself every 3 months on an ongoing basis.
